Woodturning Blueprint is a guide to help you learn how to turn, use your tools, advance your skills, and help you with your woodturning business.
A blueprint to help you learn how to turn.
Learning to turn on your own can be a very frustrating experience. I know because that is how I learned. I would go through wood turning project books and try a project that I liked. Sometimes they worked but other times they were beyond my skill level. That was terrible. Why? Because you didn’t know why the project / cut / wood / lathe etc. didn’t work. Following these seven projects in order will improve your skills as you move through progressively more challenging turnings.
($ 9.97 USD – PDF version)
You will learn to use the following woodturning tools.
- Spindle Roughing Gouge – turns your work round
- Spindle Gouge – shapes and adds detail
- Skew Chisel – shapes with a very smooth cut
- Parting Tool – to remove your work from the lathe
- Bowl Gouge – to do face plate cuts
While the skew chisel can be a challenge to learn the steps are presented in a clear fashion and with a little practice you can turn the skew chisel from a monster to a go to tool in your shop. Woodturning Blueprint will help you learn how to use these turning tools.
Will this book make me an awesome woodturner?
This book leads you through 7 progressive projects. They allow you to learn as you turn. It will not make you an awesome turner. Seriously that comes with practice. However, you will have better skills with your tools and a better understanding of how to turn different projects when you are finished. You will have your own Woodturning Blueprint.
Why are business tips in a woodturning book?
It really doesn’t take long before you will have products to sell. Even if it is to buy more wood, better equipment, or an actual side hustle, learning a bit of the business of woodturning will help you make more money from your turnings.
Who should buy Woodturning Blueprint?
If you are new at turning, or haven’t turned yet, then this book is your guide. It will take you step by step through the turning process for each of the seven projects. From putting the wood on the lathe to sanding and finishing you will be guided through every step required.

Download the PDF version to your computer. Easy to read and you can print out the pages you need to help you turn the projects in your shop.
I like using old fashioned books too. It is nice to have this option available for you. This is a print on demand service through Amazon.
Kindles are a great way to store lots of books in a small space. If you are taking your kindle to the shop I’d put it in a plastic sleeve to protect it from dust. Keep it out of the line of fire to the side of your lathe. (I don’t think a flying piece of wood and your kindle would work well together!)
